Even with the new guidelines proposed by the CDC, the St. Johns County School District will follow the specific guidance from the local Florida Department of Health regarding how long students should quarantine.
Due to the nature of communicable illnesses and during this time of COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to symptoms of commonly occurring illnesses, any student presenting with the following symptoms should stay home and contact their doctor for further evaluation.
TWO OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:
Vomiting and/or diarrhea
OR ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
Loss of taste or smell
Fever of 100.4 or higher
Shortness of breath
If your child has symptoms from the list above, has tested positive, is awaiting COVID test results, or has been in close contact with someone who is positive please keep your child home and call or email the school clinic for further guidance. For COVID-19, a close contact is defined as any individual who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset until the time the patient is isolated.
